This article explains how to install and use the GADGETTO child safety lock for charging cables. First, let's look at how the child safety lock is delivered. Depending on the package, one or more child safety locks are included. The lock comes pre-assembled, except for the back part, which needs to be inserted into the cable first. The package also includes two universal adapters per lock to ensure a secure fit. A small mounting wrench is included with each package for easy installation.
If the dimensions of the charging cable connector (see image) closely match the maximum possible dimensions for compatibility, the universal adapter is not required. Otherwise, it can be attached either on one side or all the way around. Simply peel the adhesive pad from the backing and wrap it around the charging cable connector. Leave a strip of approximately one to two millimeters free at the front, near the charging contact. The adhesive pad can then be easily trimmed to length with scissors.
First, loosen the small white screw for maximum opening using the mounting wrench. Now, insert the charging cable head through the opening at the back. Keep the cover closed while doing this. It's best to simply hold the front of the cover with a finger. Once the charging plug is far enough forward and touching the cover, tighten the white screw again with the mounting wrench. A light hand-tightening is sufficient.
The rear part then simply needs to be attached.
It is a one-handed operation, meaning the child safety lock for the charging cable can be operated with one hand and the other, free hand can be used to hold the device (e.g. smartphone).
To charge and extend the charging contact, simply press the button. This is a combined movement: push and slide. Then the charging cable can be plugged in.
The smartphone or other device charges as usual. If the device is unplugged, whether intentionally or unintentionally, the system locks automatically.
