Head injuries in children, caused by accidents in the home, occur more frequently during the early stages of learning to walk and in the first few years of life. Over 85% of head injuries in children under one year old are due to indoor accidents; for children between one and four years old, this figure is still over 60%. Most often, furniture and similar household items are the cause.
Injuries caused by corners and edges, such as those of tables, are very common, even if they are less severe than, for example, falls from changing tables or stairs. Nevertheless, they shouldn't be underestimated. We simply can't prevent every painful accident – perhaps we as parents shouldn't, so that children can learn from their experiences. But especially during the period of learning to walk, bumps and bruises can be at least partially avoided by protecting corners. Silicone adhesive pads are often used for this purpose.
In their early years, children need to learn how to coordinate their bodies and what is dangerous and what isn't in the home. During this long learning phase, it simply makes sense to create a safe space for our little ones with a few small child safety aids. A space where we don't have to shout "no" and "careful" as often, but where children can explore their world in a relaxed way.
For corner protection on coffee tables, sideboards, and other corners at fall and head height, we use round silicone elements. These are securely attached using 3M adhesive technology and can be removed without leaving any residue. The corner protectors adhere securely as long as the surface is grease-free and dry. With its transparent design, this child safety feature blends discreetly into any living space.
